Some MTS, MegaFon clients have access to Instagram without VPN

MOSCOW, Oct 13 (PRIME) -- Some subscribers of Russian mobile operators MTS and MegaFon have access to Instagram, which is designated as extremist and banned in the country, without VPN, according to information seen by PRIME on Thursday.

Media reported earlier that Instagram became available to some clients of the large operators, which coincided by timing with the period of maintenance of equipment that blocks websites.

The country banned Instagram and Facebook, both owned by Meta, in late March after the U.S. giant temporarily authorized calls to violence against the Russian military, not against civilians, as it said then.
